What are PDRN injections?

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide, a chain of DNA fragments extracted and purified from salmon. Because the sequence is highly compatible with human DNA, it is well tolerated and has been used in Korea for wound healing before it became a skin treatment. Injected into the dermis, PDRN activates adenosine A2A receptors, which may increase fibroblast activity, collagen production and the growth of tiny blood vessels, and may calm inflammation. The best-known PDRN product is Rejuran Healer, with Rejuran S for scars and Rejuran I for the thin skin under the eyes.

Unlike a filler, PDRN does not add shape. Patients choose it to improve skin quality: finer pores, softer acne scars, less crepiness under the eyes, more elasticity and a healthier glow. It is also a popular step in post-laser recovery because it supports repair.

Your dermatologist assesses scar depth, skin thickness and sensitivity, and confirms you have no fish-protein allergy. A plan of three sessions is agreed and photographed.

2. Numbing and injection

Numbing cream sits for about 30 minutes. PDRN is injected across the face or scar zone in a fine grid; the visit takes roughly 40 minutes in total.

3. Aftercare & follow-up

Written care instructions cover the first 48 hours. Sessions are repeated every 3–4 weeks and results are reviewed one month after the third.

What is the difference between PDRN and PN?

PDRN is shorter DNA fragments; PN (polynucleotide) is longer chains with more viscosity. Both are salmon-derived and used in Rejuran products; your dermatologist chooses based on the area.

Does PDRN hurt?

The injections sting briefly because the product is thick. Numbing cream makes it tolerable for most patients, and the under-eye area is handled with extra care.

How many PDRN sessions are needed?

A standard course is three sessions a month apart, followed by one maintenance session every 6–12 months.

Can PDRN treat acne scars alone?

It may improve shallow scars, but deeper scars usually need energy devices or subcision alongside it.

Is PDRN safe if I am allergic to fish?

Reactions are rare because the DNA is highly purified, but we do not recommend it for anyone with a known salmon allergy.
