Frown Line Botox in Apgujeong & Cheongdam, Gangnam, Seoul

Relaxes the muscles between the eyebrows to soften vertical '11' frown lines and a tense or tired expression.

Frown Line Botox
Quick answer
Frown line Botox uses botulinum toxin (often called Botox) to relax the corrugator and procerus muscles between the eyebrows, softening the vertical '11' lines that form when you frown or concentrate. At Oaro Dermatology Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul, a board-certified dermatologist examines how strongly these muscles pull before setting the dose.

Every Botox plan at Oaro Dermatology Clinic begins with a 1:1 examination by a board-certified dermatologist, so the toxin, dose and injection points are set for your muscles rather than a template. Meet our doctors or see all injectables.

Overview

What is frown line Botox?

The glabella is the smooth area between the eyebrows. When you frown, squint or concentrate, the corrugator muscles pull the brows together and the procerus pulls them down, folding the skin into vertical '11' lines. Over time these can stay visible at rest and make you look stern or tired even when you feel relaxed.

Frown lines are one of the most thoroughly studied uses of toxin, and were the first cosmetic area for which it was formally approved in the United States. The softening is usually clear, but the area lies close to the muscle that lifts the upper eyelid, so careful placement matters. Patients in Seoul and across Gangnam often treat it with the forehead to keep the upper face balanced.

How frown line Botox works at Oaro

At Oaro Dermatology Clinic, between Apgujeong and Cheongdam, Dr. Chang-hyun Kim or Dr. Ji-ho Park asks you to frown hard and relax, feeling the size and strength of each muscle. The dose is set by the dermatologist after examining muscle size and strength, and injections are kept at a safe distance above the bony rim of the eye socket to reduce the risk of eyelid drooping. Deeper lines may also benefit from other frown line treatments, and many patients pair this with forehead Botox.

Treatment goals

Common goals for frown line Botox

Looking less tired or cross

Many people come in because others ask whether they are annoyed or exhausted. Softening the frown muscles can make the face look calmer at rest without noticeably changing the eyes or brows.

Reducing lines from screens and squinting

Squinting at screens or in bright light folds the skin many times a day. Relaxing the muscles reduces this, and sunglasses and a well-positioned screen help slow the lines' return once the toxin wears off.

Softening one deep line

Some people have a single deep line, often slightly off-centre. The dose can be weighted towards the stronger muscle, and the doctor will be honest if toxin alone will only partly soften it.

A more open look between the brows

With the muscles that pull the brows down and together relaxed, the inner brows may sit a little more evenly. The change is subtle: a rested version of your own expression.

What to expect

1. Consultation & diagnosis

The dermatologist reviews previous toxin and any eyelid or brow concerns, then examines your frown pattern, since some people pull mainly inwards and others downwards. You will hear whether the lines are dynamic, etched or both, and what is realistic, with an itemised quote in English.

2. Treatment

After cleansing, a few precise injections are placed into the frown muscles while you sit upright. It usually takes 5–10 minutes; you may feel brief stings, and ice can be used beforehand.

3. Aftercare & follow-up

You can continue your day with written aftercare. The effect starts within 2–5 days and peaks at around 2 weeks, when a review checks the result and symmetry, in person or by message with photos.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can frown line Botox cause a droopy eyelid?

Temporary eyelid drooping (ptosis) is the main specific risk here. It is uncommon and happens when toxin spreads to the muscle that lifts the upper lid; if it occurs, it usually appears within two weeks and improves gradually over several weeks, and the doctor can advise on eye drops that may help meanwhile. Brow heaviness, headache, bruising and mild swelling can also occur.

Who should avoid frown line Botox?

Postpone treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and avoid it with neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis, an allergy to toxin ingredients, or infection between the brows. Tell the doctor about your medicines, particularly aminoglycoside antibiotics and blood thinners, and any previous eyelid drooping or eyelid surgery.

How should I time treatment around a trip to Seoul?

Because the effect peaks at about two weeks, book in the first few days of your stay so a review is possible before you leave, and allow at least two weeks before an event. Flying is generally fine, but avoid sleeping face down against the seat that day. Oaro Dermatology Clinic is in Gangnam, about 8 minutes on foot from Apgujeong Rodeo Station, and opens on Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00.

Will my frown lines disappear completely?

Lines that only appear when you frown usually soften clearly. Lines etched into the skin at rest often improve but may not disappear after one session, and the dermatologist may suggest adding treatments that work on the skin itself, such as skin boosters.

Will I still be able to frown and look like myself?

The dose can be set to soften rather than stop movement, so most people still look expressive. The effect lasts about 3–4 months, and the two-week review is your chance to ask for a lighter or stronger result next time.
