Underarm Sweating Botox in Apgujeong & Cheongdam, Gangnam, Seoul

Shallow toxin injections in the underarm skin can reduce heavy sweating considerably for several months at a time.

Underarm Sweating Botox
Quick answer
Underarm sweating Botox treats axillary hyperhidrosis by placing small amounts of botulinum toxin (often called Botox) just under the skin, where it blocks the nerve signals that switch on the sweat glands. At Oaro Dermatology Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul, a board-certified dermatologist examines you first, maps the sweating area and sets the dose for your degree of sweating.

Every Botox plan at Oaro Dermatology Clinic begins with a 1:1 examination by a board-certified dermatologist, so the toxin, dose and injection points are set for your muscles rather than a template. Meet our doctors or see all injectables.

Overview

What is underarm sweating Botox?

Axillary hyperhidrosis means the underarms sweat far more than the body needs to stay cool, often soaking through clothes within minutes, whatever the weather. It is common, frequently starts in the teens or early adulthood and can affect work, relationships and what you choose to wear. Antiperspirants help some people, but many find they are not enough.

When toxin is injected just under the underarm skin, it blocks the chemical messenger that tells the sweat glands to work. The glands are not removed or damaged; they simply produce much less sweat until the nerve endings recover. The underarms hold only a small share of the body's sweat glands, so reducing sweat there does not affect your ability to keep cool. Body odour can lessen because there is less sweat for bacteria to act on, though odour itself is assessed separately.

How underarm sweating Botox works at Oaro

At Oaro Dermatology Clinic, which sits where Apgujeong meets Cheongdam in Gangnam, Dr. Chang-hyun Kim or Dr. Ji-ho Park first asks when the sweating started and whether it affects other parts of the body. Sweating that begins suddenly in adulthood, happens mainly at night or affects the whole body can have a medical cause, and that needs checking before treatment. If your palms are also affected, see hand sweating Botox, and for planning treatment during a visit, read our guide to Botox in Korea.

Treatment goals

Common goals for underarm sweating Botox

Dry shirts through the working day

Many people come in because they change shirts during the day or stick to dark colours to hide sweat patches. A typical aim is being able to wear lighter fabrics and colours without planning around marks.

Confidence for important events

Some people time treatment before a wedding, exams or interviews. Because the effect builds over about two weeks, booking two to four weeks ahead gives a comfortable margin.

Less reliance on strong antiperspirants

Clinical-strength antiperspirants can irritate the skin. After treatment, many people can switch to a gentler everyday product.

Comfort in hot, humid weather

Seoul summers are humid, and visitors from cooler climates often notice sweating more. Treatment in late spring can cover much of the warmer season for many people, although how long it lasts varies.

What to expect

1. Consultation & diagnosis

The dermatologist asks about the pattern and impact of your sweating, your general health and medicines, and examines the skin. Where helpful, a starch-iodine test is used: the skin is painted with iodine and dusted with starch, which turns dark where sweat appears, so the area to treat can be marked accurately. You receive an itemised quote in English.

2. Treatment

Numbing cream or ice is applied, then many small, shallow injections are placed in a grid across the sweating area of each underarm. Each injection is a quick prick; numbing helps, but you will still feel them. It takes about 20–30 minutes in total.

3. Aftercare & follow-up

You can go straight back to normal activities with a few precautions. Sweating usually drops noticeably within a week. We review the result at around 2–4 weeks, and if a small patch is still sweating, a top-up can be discussed.

Cost guide

Underarm Sweating Botox cost in Seoul

Underarm treatment uses more toxin than a small facial area, so it costs more, and the price also depends on the size of the sweating area. Seoul clinics use Korean-made toxins such as Nabota and imported brands. Units differ by brand and are not interchangeable, so comparing quotes on unit numbers alone can mislead. Typical ranges in Seoul clinics:

Option Typical range (KRW)
Both underarms, Korean-made toxin (e.g. Nabota) ₩200,000–₩450,000
Both underarms, imported toxin ₩400,000–₩700,000
Top-up for a small remaining patch ₩50,000–₩150,000

Exact pricing is confirmed at consultation after examination.

Aftercare

Aftercare

  • Do not apply deodorant or antiperspirant on the day of treatment; you can usually restart the next day.
  • Avoid heavy exercise, saunas, jjimjilbang and hot baths for 24 hours.
  • Do not rub or massage the underarms on the day, and choose loose, breathable tops for comfort.
  • Wait a day or two before shaving, and ask before booking waxing or laser hair removal in the area.
  • Mild tenderness or small bruises are normal; contact the clinic if swelling increases, redness spreads or you notice signs of infection.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does underarm Botox last?

The effect often lasts somewhere around 4–9 months, though it varies from person to person and with the dose used. Sweating returns gradually rather than suddenly, and you can repeat treatment when it does.

What are the side effects?

They are usually mild: small bruises, brief tenderness or itching, mild swelling and occasionally a headache. A few people feel they sweat a little more in other areas, although this is uncommon. Arm weakness is very unlikely because the toxin is placed in the skin rather than the muscle.

Who should avoid underarm sweating Botox?

Postpone treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have an infection, rash or irritation in the underarm. It is not suitable for people with neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis or a known allergy to toxin ingredients. Tell the dermatologist about all medicines, including aminoglycoside antibiotics and blood thinners, and mention any symptoms that could point to a medical cause, such as night sweats, weight loss or palpitations.

Can I have it while visiting Seoul?

Yes. There is little or no downtime and flying afterwards is generally fine, so many visitors book it early in a trip. Skip the sauna and heavy exercise for the first 24 hours, so a jjimjilbang visit is better saved for later in your stay. Oaro is about 8 minutes on foot from Apgujeong Rodeo Station in Gangnam, and our English-friendly coordinators can check how you are doing by message once you are home.

Are there other treatments for underarm sweating?

Yes. Options include prescription-strength antiperspirants and, in some cases, oral medicines or device-based treatments, with surgery as a last resort. Botox works well for many people, is not permanent, and nothing is cut or removed.
