What are tear trough fillers?
The tear trough is the groove that runs diagonally from the inner corner of the eye down toward the cheek. It is created by a ligament that tethers the skin to the bone, and it deepens as the fat and bone around the orbit shrink. The result is a shadow that no amount of sleep or concealer removes. Tear trough filler lifts the floor of that groove with a small amount of gel placed deep, just above the bone and below the muscle, so the light no longer catches a hollow.
This is one of the most technique-sensitive filler areas on the face. The skin is the thinnest anywhere on the body, the angular and infraorbital vessels run nearby, and HA gels attract water, so an ordinary filler can cause puffiness or a bluish tint (the Tyndall effect).
