What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a collagen stimulator made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible material that has been used in dissolvable sutures for decades. After injection the PLLA microparticles create a gentle scaffold in the deep dermis; the body responds by building new collagen around them, and the particles themselves are absorbed over time. The result is a gradual return of firmness and volume that looks like your own tissue rather than an implant.
Sculptra is chosen for diffuse volume loss rather than a single line: hollow temples, flattened cheeks, sunken pre-jowl areas and the general deflation that makes the face look tired in the forties and fifties. It can also be used for skin quality on the body. For sharper contour changes, hyaluronic acid facial fillers are usually more suitable, and the two are often combined.

1. Consultation & diagnosis
Your dermatologist assesses volume loss, skin thickness and facial proportions, discusses alternatives such as HA fillers, and agrees the number of vials and sessions in writing.
2. Injection session
Numbing cream is applied, then the reconstituted Sculptra is injected into the deep dermis or just above the fat using a cannula to minimise bruising. Immediate massage distributes the product evenly. The session takes 30–40 minutes.
3. Aftercare & follow-up
You go home with written instructions for the five-day massage routine. A review at four to six weeks confirms the next session, and photographs at three months show the full collagen response.
