What are chin fillers?

The chin anchors the lower third of the face. When it sits too far back (a retruded chin), the lips look more prominent, the jawline blurs into the neck and even a modest amount of submental fat reads as a double chin. A short chin makes the face look rounder; a dimpled or "cobblestone" chin shows overactivity of the mentalis muscle. Chin fillers address these with a firm gel placed deep, on the periosteum of the mandible, to push the chin forward, lengthen it, or smooth its surface.

Product choice follows the goal. For projection we use a high-G-prime hyaluronic acid such as Juvederm Volux or Restylane Lyft, or Radiesse for patients who want extra duration. For a dimpled chin a small dose of botulinum toxin to the mentalis is usually combined. Many Seoul patients come for a "V-line" plan in which chin projection, jawline definition and masseter toxin are planned together.

What to expect

1. Consultation & diagnosis

We photograph your profile and front view, measure the chin against standard reference lines, and check how the lips and jaw contribute. We discuss product, volume and whether toxin or jawline treatment should be combined, and review your medical and dental history.

2. Treatment

After numbing cream, the gel is placed deep at the chin point and along the lower border with a needle and cannula. We shape it by hand and check the profile in a mirror. The session takes 15–25 minutes.

3. Aftercare & follow-up

You receive written aftercare in your care notebook. A review at four weeks checks projection and symmetry; a small addition can be made then if needed.
