What are jawline fillers?
A defined jawline depends on three structures: the angle of the mandible below the ear, the straight lower border running forward, and the chin. With age the bone at the angle resorbs, the pre-jowl hollow in front of the jowl deepens, and the border loses its straight line. Some younger patients simply have a naturally soft or receding jaw. Jawline fillers rebuild the line with a firm gel placed on the bone: boluses at the angle to restore the corner, a thread of product along the border to straighten it, and small amounts in the pre-jowl sulcus so that jowls no longer break the line.
Because the lower face carries weight and moves with chewing, the gel needs high lifting capacity. We use Juvederm Volux, Restylane Lyft or Radiesse.
