Overview
What is LED light therapy?
LED light therapy, also called photobiomodulation, uses light-emitting diodes at precise wavelengths to influence cell behaviour without heat or damage. Red light around 630 nm and near-infrared around 830 nm penetrate to the dermis, where they may increase cellular energy production, support collagen synthesis and reduce inflammation. Blue light around 415 nm acts on the surface, where it generates reactive oxygen within acne-causing bacteria and reduces their numbers. Medical panels are far more powerful and evenly calibrated than home masks, which is why clinic sessions are short.
LED is not a dramatic treatment on its own. Its strengths are safety, comfort and compatibility: it suits sensitive skin, rosacea, post-procedure redness, mild to moderate acne and slow-healing areas, and it can be used on every skin tone with no risk of pigmentation. Patients in Seoul most often experience it as the calming final step after chemical peels, pico laser or a skin booster.
How LED light therapy works at Oaro
At Oaro Dermatology Clinic in Apgujeong, LED is prescribed by a board-certified dermatologist with a specific purpose. After acne-focused treatments blue and red light are combined to reduce bacteria and inflammation; after lasers and microneedling near-infrared is used to shorten redness and support healing; for rosacea and reactive skin a standalone course of red light is scheduled once or twice a week. You lie comfortably under the panel with eye protection for 10–20 minutes; there is no heat and no sensation beyond gentle warmth. Because the effect is cumulative, the doctor sets a course and reviews progress with photographs. LED belongs to the Skin Boosters range as the gentlest option available to patients in Seoul.

Your visit
What to expect
1. Consultation & diagnosis
Your dermatologist identifies the goal, checks for photosensitising medication or conditions, and sets the wavelength, session length and frequency.
2. Light session
The skin is cleansed and make-up removed. You wear protective goggles while the panel is positioned a few centimetres from the face or treated area for 10–20 minutes. Many patients find it relaxing enough to doze.
3. Aftercare & follow-up
There is nothing to recover from; you can return to normal activity immediately. Standalone courses are reviewed every four weeks and adjusted according to response.
