The neck ages differently from the face. Its skin is thin, it has little supporting fat, and the platysma muscle beneath it loosens into vertical bands while the skin above it becomes crepey. A neck thread lift addresses the skin and superficial tissue layer: absorbable threads with barbs or cones are passed horizontally along the jawline and under the chin, or vertically from behind the ear down the side of the neck, and gently tensioned to reposition loose tissue. Smooth mono threads may be added in a mesh across the front of the neck purely to stimulate collagen and firm the surface.
